Once again next summer (2012), I will offer two highly affordable college planning seminars. In the seminars a small group of rising juniors and another of rising seniors (capped at 10 each) learn how to navigate every aspect of college planning. The goal of the summer seminar format is to help students do much of the work of planning ahead for college when they are least busy, and also to reduce the cost of private college planning by a significant amount.
The fee for the six-week, 12-hour seminar is $600. This is less than a fifth the cost of my usual comprehensive fee, and is available only during the summer. Participating students will come away with the following:
- An effective college search strategy, as well as an extensive, personalized list of target schools that are real prospects;
- A developed and edited application essay;
- A sound scholarship/financial aid strategy;
- Learning style and career assessments (useful for school selection and making progress on choosing a suitable major);
- Applicant profile coaching/development;
- Preparation strategies for best performance on SATs/ACTs;
- Transition and ‘adjustment to college’ guidance;
- A binder filled with PowerPoint lecture notes, a college planning timeline, assessment reports, and extensive resources;
- Availability of Lisa Ransdell for questions and brief consultations for one year following the seminar.
The precise schedule and location will be set after consultation with registered participants. Contact me at LRansdell@comcast.net, 303-635-6620 with questions and to request a registration form.
